Start with the icons
Busan packs a lot into a long coastline, and the smartest approach is to hit the signature sights first, then fill in with neighborhoods and food. If your time is short, a guided city tour chains the big three together and removes the transport puzzle.
Gamcheon Culture Village
This pastel hillside maze earned its Machu Picchu of Busan nickname. Follow the mural trail, duck into art shops and climb to the rooftop viewpoints. Painting and art classes let you take home more than photos. For a full walk-through, see the Gamcheon tours page.
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple
One of the few Buddhist temples in Korea set right on the sea, Yonggungsa clings to the cliffs above crashing waves. Sunrise here is magical, and the approach through a market of food stalls is half the fun.
Haeundae and the Sky Capsule
Haeundae is Busan's most famous beach, and the Blue Line Park Sky Capsule runs colorful capsules along the old coastal rail to Cheongsapo. It is one of the most photographed rides in Korea, which is exactly why tickets sell out.
Jagalchi Market
Korea's largest seafood market is a sensory overload of tanks, grills and rooftop diners. Even if you do not eat, it is a window into the working port that built the city.
Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge
By day a relaxed beach, by night a front-row seat to the illuminated Gwangan Bridge and, on select evenings, a drone light show over the bay. The cafe strip behind the sand is a great spot to end a day.
Nampo-dong, BIFF Square and Taejongdae
Nampo-dong is the old downtown, home to BIFF Square street food and shopping. A short ride away, Taejongdae offers cliffs, sea views and quiet forest trails. Nearby Huinnyeoul Culture Village stacks white houses above the water for another postcard view.
Fit it into your trip
With one day, prioritize Gamcheon, Yonggungsa and the Sky Capsule. With two, add the beaches, markets and a food walk. With three, take a Gyeongju day trip. However you split it, book the Sky Capsule element early because it is the one thing that reliably runs out.
Frequently asked questions
Busan is known for its beaches, seaside temples, the colorful Gamcheon Culture Village, the Haeundae Sky Capsule and Korea largest seafood market at Jagalchi.
Two full days cover the main sights comfortably. One day is enough for a highlights tour, and three lets you add a Gyeongju day trip.
Each neighborhood is walkable, but the sights are spread along the coast. The subway and taxis link them, and a guided tour saves time between them.
